When it came down to getting an iMac as a combination main computer/kitchen TV, it wasn’t hard to talk myself into the new 24″ after seeing the size of the screen. As I stared in awe at all 24″ of glory at the Apple store, it suddenly become all too clear what had to be done.

ON SOME night in the future a young man walking along Market Street in San Francisco may suddenly think of a friend in Rome. Reaching into his pocket, he will pull out a watch-size disc with a set of buttons on one side. He will punch ten times. Turning the device over, he will hear his friend’s voice and see his face on a tiny screen, in color and 3-D. At the same moment his friend in Rome will see and hear him.

So promising that is was very difficult to decline one of the offers.

Rep. Edward Markey (from MASS) has some interesting things to say about some of the government’s tax breaks aimed towards larger vehicles (from the marketwatch.com)

The first break is the exemption light trucks and minivans get from the Gas Guzzler Tax, a levy imposed on autos rated below 22.5 miles per gallon. As an example, the report said an Audi station wagon that gets 20.5 mpg incurs a $1,300 tax, while a 15.8 mpg Jeep incurs no penalty.
