Well after years of doing a Christmas CD forr family and friends I’m taking a year off. It’s not that I haven’t made a Christmas mix mind you, it’s just didn’t have the time to put the actual CD packaing together in the last couple of weeks.

As a proud owner of a BMW 3 Series wagon (with the manual transmission and sport package mind you) I’m a firm believer in the benefits of the body style. You get great space in something that gets good MPG and can drive like a sport sedan. And now it seems that other Americans are finding the same truths and not only buying new wagons but looking to the past as well. Here’s an excerpt from a recent NYT piece that chronicles the shift:
As minivans and later S.U.V.’s grew in popularity, the full-size American station wagon almost disappeared. General Motors built the last of its full-size wagons in 1996; Ford later dropped the Taurus and Mercury Sable wagons. European automakers - whose home markets were never swept up in the S.U.V. craze - continued to develop wagons that combined style and utility, perhaps planting the seeds for a resurgence.

I can’t recommend this enough. Some of these songs are absolutely the best modern examples of Christmas music you’ll hear anywhere. This is the second and third year for some of them… and they just don’t seem to get old.
