Slow Posting Issues and Fingers

So as you can probably tell my posting has slowed down just a bit on this site and focused more on the MINI site as of late. There are two reasons for this. First I just got a new job and will be starting Monday (which I'm very excited about) and I just had a pretty nasty accident.

The accident happened yesterday and involved an exacto knife and my right index finger. Long story short I cut off a healthy portion of my finger with a brand new exacto blade. The cut was an avulsion but luckily nothing very serious. I'm told the portion that was cut off will grow back fully in 3-4 weeks. That being said I've lost use of my right index finger for the time being - making it very hard to type at a decent speed. I even thought for a moment about posting the picture I took with my phone a the emergancy room (yet more reason to get a camera phone!) but figured it would turn this site into some gross link on too many bizarre weblogs. Besides my finger wants it's privacy these days.

So if things are a little slow in the next several weeks that's the reason.

Cheers
Gabe

I feel your pain. bites lower lip like Bill Clinton But really, I remember how much that hurt when I did exact same thing in high school art class. I was stupid and kept trying to play my guitar. I'd be strumming along and the tip of my finger would hit the strings. Yow!

Dude, being a graphic designer, i feel your pain! I've done exactly what you've done several times! And at first you don't even realize what you've done…..but that only lasts a moment. ;)

I know exactly what it's like. Check out my finger cutting experience with photos here http://jacobswellchurch.org/todd/archives/000283.html

Happy recovery.

OUCH!
Brings back memories. I did the same exact stunt several years ago, except it was my left index finger.
Doctor's telling no lie, it'll grow back!

I had to rush my wife to the emergency room earlier this year cause she was using a utility knife to cut some cardboard for a mockup we were working on. The blade ran up and across the straightedge, nearly severing her thumb. We rushed to the ER in the rain, and had to wait 4 hours before a doctor could see her. She had some major stitches, but it was pretty scary how deep that was. Reminds me of the time I almost cut my thumb off with some shears while cutting plastic for a model in architecture school. LOL!!

On the evening of 28 October, London time, cleaning up after dinner, my right index finger met the a tin can opened by one of these completely inadequate English can openers that basically cuts a can in half and turns it into a giant circular blade. It was the deepest cut I've ever and produced a lot of blood: the skin has covered over and I'm regaining movement.

While working at Paramount Pictures I lopped off a good portion of my right index finger, behind the nail, with a paper cutter. Never has been right since [1994]. Never did grow back either.
